So, for a Christmas present, I just received a bunch of books on how to use 3D studio max.  Soon, the same people intend to give me a copy of 3D studio max. Now, on my own I would never have thought to use 3DSM.  But here's what's cool.  I still have a lot of practice that I want to do with my regular, 2D, photoshopped art.  I kinda pulled those books out of the wrapping and thought, "Oh... here's something I'll never use." BUT I just had a curious idea.  Because I'm such a poor colorist/shader, I can actually  use 3DSM to figure out realistic lighting and color! So, I've been drawing a lot of crap lately.  Have I uploaded it? No.  Why don't I?... ... I don't even know.  Maybe I've been busy enough to not upload the stuff I haven't been too busy to draw.  Woo. Also, I think I'm in love.  My new pencil's eraser is incredible.  I don't even use it that often!  But when I do, any mark I make goes away!  Seriously, this thing kicks major mark. Maybe I'll try to scan some stuff.  If I don't, I'll... at least take a few pictures of my latest sketches.

Okay, so here's the dealeo: Without failure, I have found that every Mary Sue test out there has applied almost exclusively to supernatural/fantasy crap.  While quite often, the results do turn out real Mary Sues, they more often seem unfair.  I have concluded that people only started freaking out about Mary Sues because somebody they liked, didn't like, or wanted to like decided that they enjoyed a certain fantasy/supernatural book, and thus ignored the out-freakers.  Thus, frustration was inevitable and they took it out on writers. Some of the most loved supernatural/fantasy characters in literary history rank HIGH on every Mary Sue test
